Recognize and access a partner network
To keep providing you the best experience out there, our devices are programmed to use the Videotron network first. If your device is out of range, it will automatically connect to the next available partner network and display its name onscreen as follows:
- Videotron PRTNR: Quebec and the Greater Ottawa region
- Videotron PRTNR1: in Canada, outside Quebec
- Videotron PRTNR2: all of Canada.
Since we have agreements with most wireless service providers in Canada, it’s better to let the device do the selecting for you. That way, you get the very best coverage, every time. See Mobile network coverage.
What is Extended coverage ?
Extended coverage refers to all the providers that are a part of the Partner 2 network. It’s available across Quebec and nationwide. Extended coverage kicks in when the Videotron network or main partner network is out of range—that’s why you’ll see PRTNR2 displayed onscreen when you’re connected to it.

Extended coverage partner networks usage limits
Extended coverage partner networks should be used to complement Videotron network coverage, and as such should be used in a limited fashion. We reserve the right to restrict access to our partner networks if a customer doesn’t use the Videotron network for the majority three consecutive billing cycles.
Using services on a partner network
Some special codes for entertainment and informational purposes are exclusive to Videotron. Also, international calls to certain countries may be limited or impossible to make via partner networks.
While we expect optimal performance from our partners, signal quality, technology and data transfer speeds may vary off the Videotron network. When you transition from our network to another, calls may be dropped and must be re-established. Data transfer may also be interrupted.
Frequently asked questions
All inclusive Shared Business Canada plans, Shared Business Canada and USA plans, Unlimited Business Canada plans and Unlimited Business Canada and USA plans allow you to access partner networks Canada wide, at no extra cost to you. Unlimited Business Quebec plans (currently in the market) get you partner coverage in Quebec and the Greater Ottawa region. In the rest of Canada, Canadian roaming charges will apply but partner networks will be available.
If you mostly use extended coverage partner networks (Partner 2) for two consecutive billing periods, a notification text message will be sent to you and access to Voice, data, SMS, and MMS services on partner networks will be blocked for a period of 30 days.
We do not recommend manually connecting to the PRTNR2 network, because it deprives you of access to the Videotron network and the Partner 1 group networks. In addition, if your use of this network exceeds 50% of your total usage for three consecutive billing periods, your access to Partner 2 group networks will be blocked for 30 days.
